You should be aware of the fact that Australia is hosting the next World Bonsai Convention in Perth from 14-17 October 2021. That might sound like a long way off, but there is a huge amount of work required for this event. Most of the onsite work will be done by members of the Bonsai Society of WA and The Bonsai Workshop Inc. There will be tasks that could be performed by others, so if you would like to volunteer to help in the run up to the convention, please email Dianne Boekhout on boekhout@iinet.net.au or Lindsay Bebb on bonsai@bigpond.net.au
We plan to have a Bonsai Display of up to 120 trees and a Suiseki Display of quality stones from home and abroad.
In addition, there is planned to be a WBFF World Photo Contest; a Photo Display of Australian Bonsai that cannot be physically displayed and a Photo Display of Viewing Stones in Australian and New Zealand collections.
We will call for photos of bonsai around Oct 2019, so if you would like to submit photos of your bonsai for the display, please keep that date in mind with regard to bonsai preparation.
Right now we are calling for photos of Viewing Stones from Australian and New Zealand Collectors for the photo display only, because this is one task we can dispose of well in advance.
Each photo should be 300dpi and a minimum size of 300mm along the stone’s longest side.
Please use a plain, light colour background. You can photograph the stone on a daiza or in a suiban and on a stand if you wish.
Entries can be emailed to Lindsay Bebb at bonsai@bigpond.net.au, Or saved on a thumb drive and posted to Lindsay Bebb, PO Box 1552, Capalaba Qld 4157. Please limit entries to not more than 5 bonsai or 10 suiseki. By submitting photos to us by any means and upon our acceptance of the photos, you are agreeing to us using those photos for the World Bonsai Convention 2021 Exhibition and any publicity for the event prior to that.
This particular photo call will close around Oct 2019.
If you have any questions at all related to the Stone Exhibition, please email Lindsay Bebb on bonsai@bigpond.net.au.
If you have any general questions related to the convention, please email Dianne Boekhout on boekhout@iinet.net.au.
