To celebrate women in bonsai and the beauty of bonsai across the world, the National Bonsai and Penjing Collection of Australia (NBPCA) at the National Arboretum Canberra is hosting a week of special events. Throughout the week watch and learn from internationally renowned bonsai artists Heike van Gunst and Sandra Grlica!

Heike has styled and grown bonsai since she was 15. Heike founded the Bonsai-Arbeitskreis Hamburg & Umland Club in 2007 and is an avid contributor within the German bonsai community. Since 2016, Heike has been the Chief Editor of the German Bonsai Art magazine, she also writes articles for the German Bonsai-Fachforum. Heike regularly acts as a translator for international bonsai artists.

Sandra has been a bonsai artist for the past 15 years. She has been involved in many events and bonsai shows throughout Europe and represented Germany at the Ruago Penjing show in China. Sandra studied under the bonsai master Mauro Stemberger. Find Sandra on instagram!

Bonsai After Hours – Women in Bonsai

This premier event of Bonsai Week will highlight a simultaneous demonstration by Heike van Gunst and Sandra Grlica. Watch as they transform stock trees into bonsai masterpieces for auction on the evening.
