BIMER (pronounced “Beamer”) is an aboriginal name for Moreton Bay Fig. This magnificent tree is a distinctive part of Brisbane’s flora; and their huge crowns provided shelter for this region’s earliest inhabitants – the aborigines. It is therefore considered to be an appropriate symbol for our Club.
The aim of the Club is to provide a sheltering umbrella for motivated people with an interest in Bonsai, and to develop and enjoy their hobby/art with other enthusiasts. The Fig is also an excellent species for Bonsai cultivation by both beginners and experienced Bonsai hobbyists alike.
The Bimer Club meets once a month in Chermside West. Please see the Contact Us page for meeting details or to get in touch with us.
Come to our show and see some of the great work from members of the club.
